"Jr Chuan Tang Hot Springs came out and went all the way to the hotel. Looking at the more years, the Showa style is full. The room does not have a separate toilet and needs to go to the public toilet, but there is no inconvenience and the public is very clean. In addition to indoor and outdoor soup for men and women, there is also a soup in the backyard where you can soak in the open air. If you have the courage, you must try it. Although men and women are separated, it is just a stone, and there is a big seam between the stones. Basically, streaking in the broad daylight. Very exciting, hahahaha. Then it is recommended to eat at the hotel, the surrounding is very desolate, there are no convenience stores."
"Excellent service and room. Excellent onsen. Very delicious food"

"The location is secluded. The nearest convenience store counter said it is a 20-minute drive away. The twin room is of a decent size, but the smoking room has a strong smell, so be prepared. I called the counter and the air-conditioner was not cold. The answer was that it was normal and I could just open the window. I was dumbfounded on the spot. I took a closer look and found that there was a vent underneath."
"An enkel etsablishment and ideal for someone like me on a bike trip and just passing through.
Clean and organised. A kitchen is availble and a nice sized community room.
Would I go back on another occasion? Yes."

GGuest UserAfter checking out, we wanted to go to the bar just for a glass of water. A female staff member very rudely stopped us, saying that the bar was only for guests who had checked in and that we couldn't enter after checking out. I understand that this is the hotel's policy, and we got out immediately after being stopped. However, the attitude of this staff member was very unfriendly. As foreigners, we are not familiar with every rule in Japan, and her demeanor made us feel very uncomfortable. Moreover, her exact words were, “あなたはもうチェックアウトしてるでしょ、ここはチェックインしてるお客様しか使えない,” which implies that once I've checked out, I'm no longer a guest. She referred to me as あなた, and although my Japanese is not perfect, I am well aware that this term is considered quite impolite in Japanese.
RRyanWuTravelKawayu Onsen is a little quiet, with not many shops. There is a convenience store about a 3-minute walk away. There is a visitor center and forest trails next to the hotel, and there are also trails leading to Sulphur Mountain. The hotel is old, but very clean. The soundproofing is not good but everyone is very quiet. The bed is a single-sized foam mattress, so it is a bit hard, and the quilt is very comfortable. There is a happy hour with sake and drinks in the lobby. Breakfast was simple and standard. The hot springs are of good quality and the hot spring pool is also very large. Overall, if you can accept an older hotel, this is a very cost-effective hotel for an overnight hot spring bath.
GGuest UserThe hotel is not far from Mashu JR Station. I called the hotel and a car was sent to pick me up soon. I had no problem communicating with the front desk in simple English. The room was Japanese tatami, the heating was turned on in advance, and the bathroom was very clean. The surprise was dinner, which was prepared in 20 minutes. Each family had a separate room in the restaurant on the first floor. The steak was grilled tender and juicy. I took a hot spring bath at night, which was very comfortable.
GGuest UserI lived in a tatami room with a toilet in the room and no shower, but the hotel can take a bath. Soaking in the winter will warm your hands and feet. It is better than a shower. It doesn't matter if the room does not have a shower.
GGerman TravelerVery kind hosts!
Very nice guidance about the area.
The breakfast was delicious.
Parking lots directly in front of the house.
Everything clean.
GGuest UserMy 2-day stay at Kawayu Kanko hotel was very pleasant. While the rooms may look tired, they are spacious and functional (I could do my taiqi exercise in my room!). 3 things I like most about the stay: the staff I interacted with, the onsen and the dinner. Ms Yuka at the front desk spoke perfect English and she gave me the most useful ideas about where to eat and where to go. Thanks to her, I got to learn about the Teshikaga Eco-Passport and got to visit Lake Kussharo (Sunayu area), Lake Mashu and Mt Io by bus, all in one day. Her boss, Mr Nakajima was a very friendly gentleman. Language did not deter him as he patiently gave me a lesson (using his phone translator) about the geographics and the creation of the Kawayu Onsen area. Secondly, the onsen was great. The temperature was just right for me and the mineral refreshed my body instantly. I was told the hot spring water in the hotel came directly from a source that is only a few kilometers away. Lastly, the kaiseki dinner was great. The spread was generous. On a freezing winter day, the 2 personal hotpots greatly filled up and warmed my body. I will definitely return to the hotel.
