Hotel Rocca Della Sena

We had the most wonderful time staying at Rocca della Sena. The view from the terrace was incredible and was such a lovely place to be able to sit during sunset. Breakfast was very good and there were lots of options to choose from, including fresh nduja which is local to the area. The staff were probably the best part of the stay, though. They were so kind and generous with their time, always asking if they could provide recommendations for dinner or activities in the area, and made us feel so welcome. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tropea. We honestly have no negative feedback to provide!

We stayed at the hotel in August. The owners are wonderful, but Elena at the front desk misled us when we asked her for help.

Hotel is OK, average at best. Staff are lovely, helpful and accommodating. The rooms are in desperate need of upgrading. Never paid quite such a premium for such a depressing room. Located on the ground floor with a patio right next to the breakfast room. When the door was closed, no natural light in the room. You woke in the morning and it could quite literally be the middle of the night. The room had a jacuzzi bath which was old and dated. Shower and bathroom were simply awful. Rain shower head too big for the shower area. Leaked from the edges. Rusty and dirty. Some cheap LED colour changing lights in there. Room wasn’t clean. Floor was filthy but room service did tidy each day, wipe sinks over etc. Not enough hangers when we arrived albeit we had booked for 2 weeks. Beds and linen clean and comfortable and towels changed daily. Some strange African style decor going on which when twinned with dark wood dated, old furniture made the room even darker. On the positive, location lovely. Short walk to town centre although located in quite a run down area of town. View from the terrace stunning along with amazing sunsets. Breakfast was OK. Coffee lovely and plentiful. If, based on the photographs, you’re expecting a pool you’ll be very disappointed as the pool is no more than a plunge pool. As said previously, paid a small ransom to stay here and in my opinion, not worth the price. Has the potential to be incredible but sadly falls well short.
