[Ashikaga Orihime Shrine/Tochigi Prefecture] The God of Matchmaking and a Spectacular View

Ashikaga Orihime Shrine in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 In 1705, the lord of Ashikaga, Toda Tadatoshi, enshrined two deities, Ame-no-Mikoto, who was said to have woven silk clothes for Amaterasu Omikami, and Ame-no-Yachihime-no-Mikoto, a weaver, at Yakumo Shrine in Ashikaga City in order to establish a weaving shrine. In 1879, Orihime Shrine was moved to the middle of Mount Kijin (now Mount Orihime). The following year, it was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in 1937. The reinforced concrete shrine building looks just like Ryugu-jo Castle. As it is located on the mountainside, you have to climb 229 stone steps to reach the top. 　 There is also "Enmusubizaka" where there are a row of 7 colored torii gates, which are a little gentler. It is a little tough, but the view from the top is spectacular. You can see the Watarase River, Watarase Bridge, Mt. Asama, and more. It is a place where you can even get a panoramic view of the Kanto Plain. The two deities enshrined here are the god of weaving and the weaver. Since warp and weft threads are woven together to make woven fabric, the shrine is said to be a shrine for matchmaking.
