General information - Kamikochi is open for visits from April 17 - November 15 of every year. - Located between Matsumoto and Takayama. - Private cars are not allowed in the area. - But there is a parking lot at Sawando Parking. - Do not litter in the park. There are trash cans near the restrooms on Kappa Bridge in the vending machine area. (Please separate your trash.) - ​​There is a maintenance fee to use the restrooms. - Do not approach or feed wild animals. (We also saw monkeys) - There is a hotel in the park - There is a tent area - The winter season is closed. If you want to visit, you need to have a local guide with you and you must submit a form before entering the park. 🚃 2. Round trip 2.1 We chose the route from Matsumoto, which means we stayed in Matsumoto for 1 night and went to Kamikochi the next day. 2.2 Tickets - Buy tickets at Matsumoto Station. It is a combined train + bus ticket. - The price is 3,260 JPY per person. - You can only buy tickets at the machine (✅ Ticket Vending Machine). You cannot buy them at the counter (❌ Ticket Office). - There will be a separate machine for buying tickets to Kamikochi. There are 2 machines. - Accepts only cash. - The method is to select English on the top right > Select the Norikura-Shirahone-Kamikochi box on the bottom left > Then select Kamikochi on the screen > Then put money in. - Note: You can also buy tickets online in advance. But we want to open up new experiences 5555 2.3 Traveling outbound 6.30 Matsumoto - 8.30 Kamikochi - The Kamikochi train will depart from platform 7 - 6.30: Take the train from Matsumoto Station to Shin-Shimashima Station - 7.00: Arrive at Shin-Shimashima Station (to transfer to the bus) - 7.10: The bus departs for Kamikochi - 8.30: Arrive at Taisho Pond, the first stop. We get off here. - At the bus transfer point, there will be staff to guide you throughout, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. - On the return trip, we bought tickets online for the bus to train. On this website 2.4 Return trip 16.40 Kamikochi - 18.30 Matsumoto - We have already purchased the return ticket online. - 16.40: Bus departs from Kamikochi - 17.45: Arrives at Shin-Shimashima Station (to catch the train) - 18.00: Train departs - 18.30: Train arrives at Matsumoto Station ☘️ 3. Highlights - Taisho Pond or Taisho Pond The highlight is the reflection of the mountain in the water like a mirror. Just the first point makes me want to cry. - Kappa Bridge or Kappa Bridge is a landmark here because it is in the middle of everything. Many people will get off here first. There are shops, restaurants and a bridge! The bridge across the stream with a large mountain as the background is the most beautiful. You have to get a picture on the bridge. No matter how many people there are, we have to fight! - Konashidaira Camping Retreat Konashidaira camping site is located on the way from Kappa Bridge to Myojin Bridge. You can stop here to take pictures. But you have to keep your voice down a bit. - Myojin Bridge is another bridge that is equally beautiful, and the closer you get to the mountain, the closer it feels like you can touch it. 🍁 4. A little more - It is recommended to get off the bus at Taisho Pond first, then walk to Kappa Bridge, stop for lunch, coffee, and snacks here, then walk to Myojin Bridge and cross the bridge to walk back from the other side. - Bring cash, some shops only accept cash. - Wear shoes that you can handle getting dirty, some parts of the walk are on the ground with standing water. - Try to wear shoes that support walking for long periods of time, and your trip will be perfect. - The ice cream at the shop at Kappa Bridge is delicious.
