Highland cattle are one of the oldest cattle breeds in existence and can live comfortably in cold, wet weather. Their long hair has a double layer structure - the outer layer blocks wind and rain, and the inner layer keeps warm, a real natural down jacket. On Scottish farms and grasslands, you can often see them grazing leisurely in groups. Some farms are open to travelers for close interaction, and some even let you help feed them carrots! They are docile and stable in character, and it is said that they will not become agitated even when children approach them. For the Scots, the Highland cattle are not just a tourist mascot, but also a symbol of the Highland spirit - tough, hardy, not easily angered, but definitely not to be ignored. Just like the people of this land, they appear gentle on the outside, but they have an indomitable strength in their bones.
