100 Ways of Travel in Sichuan

#100waysoftravel In China, the division of the country into provinces and districts is not just an administrative convention, but rather a cultural and historical pattern. Due to the huge size of the state and the heterogeneity of the population, China has been divided into several regions since its formation, and the modern borders of the provinces were determined almost a thousand years ago and have hardly changed since then. In fact, each Chinese province is a separate state with its own characteristics, culture, traditions and sometimes even its own language. Ultramodern Hong Kong, tropical Yunnan, imperial Beijing — they are all interesting in their own way and completely different from each other. One of the most attractive provinces for tourism in China can be called Sichuan, which is known to Europeans, first of all, as the gateway to Tibet, and to the Chinese as the birthplace of Chinese opera and the habitat of the big panda. But the main thing that attracts travelers from all over the world is, of course, the amazing nature. Sichuan is a "Land of Heavenly Abundance", a blessed land with rich natural resources and beautiful landscapes. The territory of the province includes part of the Tibetan Plateau and the fertile Sichuan Basin, dominated by plateaus and plains. The population of Sichuan is 83 million people. Chengdu city was founded in the 5th century BC in the valley of the Minho River, and in the first centuries of our era it was called Jincheng (City of brocade), as it was famous for the best brocade in the East. During the Song Dynasty in the 7th century, it was here that the first paper money in the world appeared. Chengdu has a population of over 21 million people. Chengdu has two international airports: Shuangliu and Tian Fu. The city is associated with the giant panda, the national symbol of China. The statue of Maitreya Buddha / Buddha of the Future in Leshan is one of the tallest Buddha statues on Earth and, for over a millennium, the tallest sculptural work in the world. The Buddha's face is turned towards the sacred mountain Emeishan, located opposite. Emeishan is one of the four sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhists and a very beautiful place that has UNESCO World Heritage Status. The name of the mountain is sometimes written in hieroglyphs as "High Eyebrow". And many many other landmarks, Sichuan is immense province, which has unique artifacts to offer to all kind of travelers.
