The town of Spiez on Lake Thun, Switzerland

Spiez is located on the southern shore of Lake Thun in central Switzerland. It belongs to the Freitigen Niedersmontal administrative district of the canton of Bern. It is considered by many people to be the most beautiful town in Switzerland. Spiez, surrounded by mountains and rivers, is indeed a charming tourist destination. It is located on the shore of Lake Thun, backed by the Alps and surrounded by vineyards. Opposite the town is the Niederhorn mountain range of the Alps, which stretches all the way to Bern, forming a magnificent panorama of lakes and mountains. The beautiful Spiez also has a brilliant historical and cultural heritage. In the nearby area are several large Bronze Age and Iron Age settlements. Three separate Bronze Age cemeteries containing large numbers of bronze axes, knives and cloaks dating from 1750 to 1500 BC. A rare urn was also unearthed in Forense (Figure 8) under the jurisdiction of Spiez, which archaeologists speculated to be from the first century BC. Although no permanent human settlements from the ancient Roman era have been discovered so far, some ancient Roman coins and tombs have been found. During the late Western Roman Empire and the early Middle Ages, several families began to live in the Spiez area. From a tourism perspective, the town should be viewed from all angles, including viewing and photographing it from the opposite side of the lake, that is, the Niederhorn mountain range.
