Takachiho Gorge

🇯🇵 Wow, that was the first thing we said when we arrived at "Takachiho Gorge", one of the Wishlists that we consider the ultimate Road Trip on Kyushu Island. The nature is so beautiful beyond words. The path in the middle of the valley, the blue river flowing through the cliff, seeing Manai Waterfall with a thin mist that boaters have to go in to take pictures. Everything looks perfect like a painting. If it's this beautiful during the rainy season, how much better would it be when the weather is good? We went in early April. The weather was cool and it was drizzling all day. The advantage of this period is that we will see trees in green and yellow alternating along the way. This time we didn't book a boat because the forecast said it would definitely rain. I felt a bit sorry, but in fact, the atmosphere on both sides of the road is beautiful enough. We drove from Aso City to Takachiho Gorge. It took about 1.20 hours. There are parking lots to choose from on both sides. The parking fee is about 500 yen. There is a map provided. We didn't visit all the important spots because it rained all day. We only went to the highlight spots of the valley. If we visit all of them, it should take about 3 hours++. I recommend coming at 10 am to get beautiful light. Don't worry about food. Because they have restaurants, vending machines, and souvenir shops. If you want to go kayaking, I recommend booking online 2 weeks in advance because it fills up very quickly. In the end, it was worth the trip. Just seeing the view made me feel less tired.
