Chillin’, Tubin’, and Mountain Views

#summervacay Vang Vieng is one of those places you plan to visit for two days and somehow stay for a week. It’s got this chilled-out, backpacker-meets-nature vibe that’s just way too easy to fall into. Surrounded by these crazy beautiful limestone cliffs, the views are straight-up unreal, especially at sunset. Tubing down the river is still a thing, and yeah, it’s as fun (and ridiculous) as it sounds. Just grab a tube, float along, maybe stop at a riverside bar, and repeat. If that’s not your jam, there’s kayaking, hot air balloons, and motorbike rides through rice fields that look like a screensaver. There are also random caves and blue lagoons scattered around, some are super touristy, some feel totally untouched. The town itself is a mix of chill cafés, smoothie spots, and places playing reruns of Friends. Vang Vieng isn’t fancy, but it’s a good-time magnet. Come for the landscapes, stay for the vibes. You won’t regret it (even with the sunburn).
