Banya Temple
Address: 104 Samjeon-ri, Gayagok-myeon, Nonsan.
Inquiries: 041 741 8412.
Free admission and parking.
It is said that this temple was built using a former limestone mine during the Japanese colonial period.
There is a 20m cave around the cave temple, which is an abandoned mountain, so there is a risk of falling rocks,
so it is prohibited to enter for safety reasons, so it is better to avoid going near it even if you are curious.
In front stands Daeungjeon and Yaksa Yoraebul, and if you go inside, there are stone cliffs on both sides and a cave leading down to the cave temple.
Just by going near it, a cool cold air gushes out.

Nonsan Banyasa Temple, a hot spot for valley photo zones
Until recently, it was a place I was curious about because of a photo that could be seen as a hot place on SNS, but now, because there are too many tourists, the entrance is blocked due to the risk of falling rocks, so I could only look at the valley from the entrance. It was a pity, but even if it wasn't that spot, the cliff-like rocks that were filming sites for dramas like Arang and the Magistrate, and the cave temple were so mysterious, so it seems like a place worth visiting at least once regardless of religion.

Exploring Banyasa Temple
#summervacay if you're cruising through Chungcheongnam and want to check out something different, Banyasa Temple in Nonsan-si is a total hidden gem. It’s not your usual temple, it’s got this wild cave vibe because it was actually built into an old limestone mine. So yeah, part of the temple is literally inside a mountain. Kinda spooky, kinda magical.
You walk through this tunnel-like entrance and bam, shrine spaces, glowing lights, and cool air that hits different. There’s even this big stone carving of Gwanseeum-bosal inside and a little area for the Dragon King, which adds to the whole mystical feel. The main hall is set against a cliff, and there’s a stream nearby with a rock shaped like a tiger. Super random, super cool.
It’s not crowded at all, which means you can take your time, breathe in some fresh mountain air, and just chill. Free entry, easy parking, and great for photos. Honestly, it’s a super mellow, quirky spot worth the detour.
