The Mt Coot-Tha Botanical Gardens is one of the largest prettiest botanical gardens that I have been to, including a Sir Thomas Planterium, a tropical dome cacti garden, fern garden and more. I enjoyed exploring the gardens for a solid few hours with my partner then we went to the botanical garden Cafe and enjoyed a delicious cinnamon scroll and coffee. My favourite way to spend a weekend in Brisbane is heading up to Mt Coot-tha. I start early and hike one of the scenic trails — usually the Summit Track or JC Slaughter Falls. It’s peaceful, green, and full of native birds. Once I reach the Mt Coot-tha Lookout, the view over the city skyline and out to Moreton Bay is breathtaking. I’ll grab a drink or bite from the café there before heading back down. Sometimes I stop at the Botanic Gardens nearby too. It’s all so close to the city, but it feels like a proper nature escape.

To get to Mt Coot-tha, take bus No. 471 from the center of Brisbane, first visit the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, and then go to Summit Lookout for lunch. Take a minibus tour to the park, where you can see Brisbane's city flower Jacaranda, and lotus flowers that are so beautiful that they seem fake. The driver of the Minibus tour stopped the car at a high point in the Botanical Gardens and let us get off to take pictures while overlooking the entire city center.
