Busan Cinema Center (COEX) – Busan’s cultural icon where architecture and film meet
#June Travel Support Fund
Busan Cinema Center, located in Centum City, Haeundae-gu, Busan, is not just a movie theater.
Opened in 2011 to coincide with the opening of BIFF, this is an artistic building boasting the world's longest cantilevered roof.
🏛 Architecture & Design
Cantilevered Roof: The large roof the size of a soccer field (163×60m) appears to be floating in the air, setting a 'world's largest' record.
LED Sky: Thousands of LED lights under the roof change color like a virtual sky at night, presenting a fantastic visual.
Space Composition: The open and closed spaces are naturally connected, from the mountain-shaped movie theater, double-cone structure, red carpet square, to the 4,000-seat outdoor theater.
The Busan Cinema Center is a 'complex emotional space' where architecture, movies, and leisure are intertwined. Beyond an ordinary screening room, the building itself is a work of art, and you can experience the publicness and relaxation that you feel outdoors. Even outside of the film festival season, there's always something to see thanks to the LED light show, outdoor screenings, and expansive plaza.
