🦚 Monkeys, Murugan & Marble Steps: My Morning at Batu Caves🛕🌄
#gentingtrip
Ever climbed 272 rainbow-colored steps before breakfast? I did — and my legs are still complaining. 😅
7:30 AM — I arrived early to Batu Caves, just north of Kuala Lumpur. The golden statue of Lord Murugan greeted me like a 42-meter-tall guardian glowing in the morning sun. The air smelled like incense and fried snacks. Birds swooped overhead. Monkeys were already wide awake and plotting their next snack heist. 🐒
The climb? Brutal but beautiful. Each step felt like a stairway into the clouds, especially with the vibrant colors and lush limestone cliffs around me. Halfway up, a monkey snatched someone’s juice box and strutted off like a boss — we locked eyes and I swear he winked. 😂
8:15 AM — Inside the main cave, it’s cool and echoey, like nature’s own temple hall. Sunbeams sliced through openings in the rock, spotlighting shrines and moss-covered walls. It felt… ancient. Peaceful. Sacred.
Hidden gem alert! 🪷 After the main cave, I ducked into the lesser-known Cave Villa (small entrance fee), where there are intricate Hindu carvings, murals, and koi ponds. Totally underrated, and way fewer crowds.
9:00 AM — Back on the ground, I followed my nose to a banana leaf breakfast at one of the Indian stalls nearby. Think spicy dhal, crispy vada, and frothy teh tarik (Malaysian milk tea) — all for just a few ringgit. Heaven. ☕🍛

💡 Quick Tips:
• Go early (before 9 AM) to beat the heat and crowds.
• Dress modestly (no shorts, or you’ll need to rent a sarong).
• Watch your stuff — the monkeys are sneaky.
• Don’t miss the Cave Villa for extra art and photo ops!

Whether you’re into temples, nature, or just chasing cool Instagram spots, Batu Caves is a must. Just stretch your legs first. Trust me. 🧘♂️😂
