Slow down by the canals | Amsterdam, Netherlands
During the few days I came to Amsterdam, I always felt that "the city is whispering". It is not noisy here, but there are stories everywhere, like an old book hidden in the corner of the bookshelf, waiting for you to open it.
This is a city suitable for "roaming":
• Cycling experience: I rented a bicycle and shuttled along the canal. Along the way, there were red brick buildings, boats under the bridge, and the oncoming sunshine and wind. Every street corner makes people can't help but look a few more times.
• Museum tour: The collections of the Rijksmuseum of the Netherlands are really shocking, and the Van Gogh Museum made me unable to get out of my emotions for a long time. Friends who like art must not miss it.
• One-day tour of Giethoorn: Although there are a few tourists, it is really worth it! Fairytale-like cottages, swaying boats, and a world that is too quiet to be real.
• Canal cruise: The city lights up under the night sky, sitting on the boat with a glass of mulled wine, watching the lights reflected on the water, so romantic.
• De Negen Straatjes: Every small shop here has its own personality, from independent bookstores to vintage clothing, from cafes to dessert shops. Once you walk into any of them, you won't want to leave.
**Accommodation recommendation: ** We chose a small hotel by the canal. At night, you can see the lights swaying on the water when you open the window, as if you were living in a painting.
Tips:
• Amsterdam's weather is changeable, so it is recommended to bring an umbrella with you.
• It is recommended to buy the Amsterdam City Card, which includes many museum tickets and public transportation, which is great value.
• Be careful of cycling rules! Locals ride fast, pedestrians remember to stand aside.
Amsterdam is not big, but it is intriguing.
It is a city, an art gallery, and a poem.
Just walk slowly.
