London|Newly opened Chinese restaurant with brilliant duck
Last time I met a friend near UCL, and we dined at 3Gorges — the ambiance was truly amazing.
We started with a selection of dim sum: scallop, shrimp, and chive flavors were all excellent, and the colorful presentation was absolutely beautiful!
For soup, my friend and I chose one chicken and one duck option — both were rich and nourishing, with flavorful broths and generous ingredients. The small bowls they came in were also super cute.
Before the mains, we had a platter that included a duck roll — it was delicious! Crispy on the outside and packed with tender duck inside, so fragrant and flavorful.
For mains, we ordered the beef dish. We didn’t realize it came with rice and vegetables — we were shocked when three huge dishes came out. The black pepper beef was incredibly tender, with a great peppery aroma. Pouring abalone sauce over the rice took it to the next level — absolutely perfect. There was way too much food for just two people!
The Eight Treasure Duck was served whole — crispy on the outside and stuffed with mushrooms, glutinous rice, and other ingredients. For four people, they serve the whole duck; for two, they portion and plate it nicely. It’s a very generous dish — but also really delicious and unique!
For dessert, we had coconut jelly and osmanthus cake — both beautifully presented. I especially loved the subtle osmanthus fragrance!
Price per person: £100+
