Visiting the Guanwang Temple in Yuncheng The Guanwang Temple in Yuncheng seems to be very small, like a square in the downtown area.
Visiting Yuncheng Guanwang Temple🌧️Yuncheng Guanwang Temple seems to be very small, like a piece of pure land in the downtown area, but it has a lot of attractions. The reason for visiting this temple in the first place was that it has beautiful dragon-carved stone pillars. Dragons in different postures are swinging their golden fleshy bodies and stepping on lovely light blue clouds... The aesthetics of the ancients will not disappoint. In addition, it is said that many fortune sticks used in Guandi Temple originated from here. Thinking that this place should be very spiritual, I came here to ask for a fortune stick. The rest can be explored by myself after visiting.
⭐The Yuncheng GuanW Temple was founded in the Yuan Dynasty, rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty, and repaired in the Qing Dynasty and later generations. The existing mountain gate, offering hall, main hall and Spring and Autumn Tower are all relics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, except for the Spring and Autumn Tower which is newly built. It faces east and west (Guan Gong’s hometown is on the west), and has a two-courtyard layout. The mountain gate is three bays wide and two bays deep, with a single-eaved hip roof and eight stone pillars with carved dragons under the front and back eaves. The Offering Hall and the Main Hall are both three bays wide and three bays deep. The Offering Hall has a single-eaved hip roof, while the Main Hall has a single-eaved hip roof. It is worth mentioning that the eaves of the Offering Hall and the Main Hall are almost connected, leaving only a gap.
🔴The Monument of the Holy Works of Daguan——Erected in the second year of Daguan Period (1108) in the Song Dynasty, the main text was written by Emperor Huizong of Song Zhao Ji himself in "Slender Gold" style, the powerful prime minister Cai Jing inscribed the title, and the calligraphy and painting master Li Shiyong sketched it on the stone. This stele is a collection of calligraphy works by three great calligraphers and is a famous Chinese calligraphy stele with high calligraphy value.
🔵“Four Good” Proverbs Stele——carved in the seventh year of Zhengde Period of Ming Dynasty (1512). There are four stones in total, about 100 cm high and 23 cm wide. The theme of the stele is engraved with Guandi's "Four Good" motto in seal script: "Read good books, speak good words, do good deeds, and be a good person." The middle part is engraved with running script on the praises of Zhu Wengong of the Song Dynasty. The "Four Good" motto monument is a masterpiece of the Police Federation, warning future generations: Throughout life, whether it is how you act, speak, treat others, read or write, you should all conform to the "good" standard.
🟡Other highlights include the brackets on the front eaves of the main hall, the small wooden brackets on the shrine inside the main hall, many beautiful dragon-carved stone pillars, a group of lifelike wood carvings, etc. It is dazzling and unforgettable, and you can't see enough!
