Hameediyah Restaurant is a very famous Indian Muslim restaurant which established since 1907. They have several outlets in Penang Island and Klang Valley. The outlet which i went to is located on Lebuh Campbell, George Town, Penang. Featuring Nasi kandar, a cusine originated from Penang, basically is the Indian-Muslim version of ‘mixed rice’ or ‘curry rice’, rice served with various curries and awesome dishes. Their pricing is a bit steep but portion is relatively huge. However, the dishes are literally delicious and rich of spices, it's a special experience for taste buds. This restaurant is always a long queue awaited, it was uncrowded when i been there about closing hour. Especially when walking around Little India, there are many Indian restaurants lined up. But this time, it is not ordinary because we will take you to a great restaurant that you have to wait in line for more than 2 hours at HAMEEDIYAH Restaurant, the oldest legendary Indian restaurant in Penang. It has been open since 1907 or more than 116 years. Another restaurant that sells well and has a lot of people waiting in line. Let me tell you that they are full of spices, pour the sauce with a strong taste and serve a very satisfyingly large dish! Inside the shop, they sell Nasi kandar (Indian curry rice). In the past, this shop used to be a street vendor. Now it is so famous that it has become a legendary restaurant in Penang. Inside the shop, there are 2 dining areas. Both are located on Campbell Street, a few doors apart. The second area is a newly opened area with air conditioning, cool and comfortable. The area is more spacious and comfortable so that diners can enjoy the food. After waiting in line for more than 1.30 hours, we finally arrived at the shop. The aroma of spices in the restaurant is fragrant from afar. I ordered 2 dishes: Shank Lamb and Fried Squid. Before serving, the chef asked if I wanted mixed sauce. When I saw the sauce, it looked rich and satisfying, so I asked the restaurant to mix it! They poured all the sauces in the restaurant for me. The plate was huge, I didn't even leave room for other dishes >< Briyani with huge pieces of lamb shank. Starting with the fragrant rice with spices, this type of rice has long, slender grains, is loose, and not soggy. The restaurant can make it soft and delicious! Even more so with the various sauces that the restaurant added, it made the taste even more outstanding and rich. Overall, it was extremely spicy and the sauce was rich. The lamb shank that the restaurant served was a very satisfyingly large piece. It wasn't tough or smelly when eaten. The lamb was soft and delicious, and you could taste the various spices that the restaurant had marinated. When eaten with rice, it went together even better. The aroma of the spices filled your mouth. It opened up a world of Indian food that was more delicious than anywhere else. True to its reputation, customers are willing to queue up. I must say that in addition to the extremely popular biryani, the restaurant also offers a wide variety of other dishes, including lamb, chicken, shrimp, fish biryani, and various Indian curries that are freshly made throughout the day. Each dish has a unique aroma of spices. There are also delicious mee goreng, roti with various fillings, garlic naan, and original butter naan.
