When I was researching spots to visit in Ho Chi Minh City, I came across this museum; and the reviews about this place are all saying how the architecture is way more worth seeing than the arts, which is kind of true in my experience … haha As you can see from the pictures, the building itself is magnificent, the exterior is painted in a pastel yellow which gives a very french colonial vibe. However, as for the museum itself, be warned, there is only AC is some specific rooms so it is very hot and humid inside. And I feel like there is a lack of cohesion between the arts and the museum does not provide sufficient descriptions to explain the art pieces… Despite what I have just said, I would recommend u to visit this museum if you have never been before. It is located conveniently nearby Ben Thanh Market in 97A Pho Duc Chinh, District 1, HCMC, and is open daily from 0800-1700. This yellow-white colonial-era mansion is inspired by both French and Asian styles, which creates a typical ambiance through its marble floors throughout and the spacious, airy rooms. The mansion impresses visitors with French-styled balconies, long corridors, doors with arched styled to get wind, natural light, 99 doors with different architectural styles. From the main gate, one luxury remaining treasure is the first elevator to be assembled in Saigon, where the cabin was crafted by wood and sculpted as a royal palanquin. Classic spiral staircases at the third building must not be missed when you come to visit, it is very nice. Next year i wish to travel to Iceland.
