Between Sea and Stillness: A Midday Pause at Hualien Port
#summervacay #July2025 #naturalwonders #seascapes
At noon, Hualien Port Waterside Recreation Area feels like a forgotten postcard—still, sunlit, and nearly silent. A mother and child cycle slowly along the path, their laughter distant and soft. The breeze carries the scent of salt and summer. Venus Gallery remains shuttered, but even its silence feels poetic.
Further along, a nearby 7-Eleven offers small comforts: papaya milk, a swirl of soft-serve ice cream—simple treats that somehow taste better when paired with sea air.
From the edge, cargo ships slip in and out of port, dwarfed by the vast Pacific beyond. The horizon stretches without end. You’re not far from the city, yet it feels like you’ve stepped out of time.
In Hualien, even the quietest corners hold a view worth lingering for.

Strolling by the Sea Breeze at Hualien Harbor Waterfront Recreation Area
Every time I visit Hualien, I always make time to come to the Hualien Harbor Waterfront Recreation Area. It’s one of my favorite spots for a leisurely walk. The harbor features spacious walkways where you can stroll while watching the Pacific Ocean waves crash against the shore and enjoy the view of ships entering and leaving the port.
In the early morning, the air is fresh, making it perfect for a jog or a relaxing walk with a cup of coffee to wake up your senses. In the evening, the sunset reflecting on the sea creates an incredibly romantic atmosphere! If you’re lucky, you might even catch a street performance, adding a delightful surprise to your visit. Conveniently located near the city center, this spot is a perfect seaside retreat for both travelers and locals alike.

Hualien County Xincheng Township Mingtan Street Mu Ming Private Cuisine
At the end of the year, I went to Hualien for a vacation. On the way to the hotel in a taxi, I asked the driver to recommend some local specialty restaurants. He told me that there is a famous private restaurant with no menu near Qixingtan in Hualien Port. It serves traditional Amis aboriginal cuisine with fresh ingredients. It is a reservation-based restaurant and is difficult to book. I called immediately and made a successful reservation. From the moment I entered the restaurant to see the beautiful scenery and enjoy the food to the end of the meal, I was not disappointed.
