While traveling in Japan, I often come across places that look similar but have completely different roles and meanings, so I compared them and wrote them down!!
1. Shrine
A place of worship for Shinto, Japan's unique religion, where various gods are enshrined!
Features include torii (red gate), purification water, ema (wish cards), and amulets,
Representative places include Fushimi Inari Shrine (Kyoto) and Meiji Shrine (Tokyo)!
2. Shrine
This is a term used to refer to shrines with particularly high status and status among shrines! It has the characteristic of enshrining gods who are deeply related to the Japanese imperial family, and it has many large and historically important places!
3. Temple
A temple for Buddhist practice and worship, where Buddha and various Bodhisattvas are enshrined. Characteristics include pagodas, Buddhist statues, incense burners, monks, and sutras! Representative temples include Kiyomizu-dera (Kyoto) and Senso-ji (Tokyo).
4. Castles
