King Anouvong Statue
King Anouvong, the 26th king of Laos in the 18th century, started two wars for independence from Thailand, but was eventually defeated and died in a Thai prison.
There is a statue to honor the king, and a park is built next to it.
He is called the hero of the Lao people.
That is why the statue is stretching its arms across the Mekong River toward Thailand.
There is a road next to the statue of King Anouvong, and the Mekong River flows by,
and in the evening, the road is controlled, so many people walk and run.
It is also the starting point of the Mekong River Night Market.
