Getting There - The best way to get here is by bus (JR). You can stop at JR Nikko Station or Tobu Nikko Station. Where should we start? Nikko nice beautiful quiet small city in the Tochigi Prefecture in the mountains north of Tokyo. There is a few beautiful attractions here but Miss is going to focus on one now. Lake Chuzenji is a beautiful lake above the Nikko town. It takes about 45 minutes from Nikko Station to Lake Chuzenji. The bus journey is beautiful climbing up the mountains with a fantastic view of the cool mountains foliage. Once you reach the top there is more beautiful views to see. Your eyes will going around every where just admiring the view. The air is so fresh and crisp. The lake view is amazing. When Miss Elly was there she see the the local tourist loves to visit. There is a handful of foreign tourists which is good. A place that you should put in your itinerary. Miss Elly suggestion would be stay in Nikko for a minimum of 2 nights or like Miss Elly she stays there for 3 nights. I was bored so I thought about taking a swan boat, but it was out of service in winter. The souvenir shops and restaurants around the area were somehow open during the New Year holidays. I recommend it if you want to enjoy a relaxing time, such as drinking coffee at a cafe in front of the lake. By the way, when coming from Nikko, you have to go through a winding mountain road, and I thought it would be scary if it was covered in snow.

#trip2209 If you go to Nikko, I recommend going a little further and visiting Lake Chuzenji. The view from Hangetsuyama Observatory on the shores of Lake Chuzenji is amazing! Across Lake Chuzenji, you can see a spectacular view of Mt. Nantai. When I went to see the moon in September, the full moon and the morning glow were amazing. After 7am, it's a 30-minute walk from the nearby parking lot. If you want to go early in the morning, it's a 2.5-hour hike from the Lake Chuzenji parking lot.

This autumn, I went on a road trip to Nikko with friends. We happened to encounter a rainy day. Initially, we thought our plan to capture the autumn leaves would be ruined, but the rainy weather added a unique atmosphere to the scenery. The autumn leaves on a rainy day, combined with the mist lingering in the mountains, perfectly complemented Lake Chuzenji. In the rain, Chuzenji Temple, nestled halfway up the mountain and surrounded by autumn leaves, looked like a place where deities reside.
