How long has Lhasa been on your travel bucket list?
Hello everyone, I am a guesthouse owner who has been living in Lhasa for 11 years and currently runs two inns. I have a question for you all: Have you ever been to Lhasa? Have you been planning to visit Lhasa for a long time but never made it?
Over the years, I've often heard guests say, "Ah, I finally made it here!" And I’ve realized that the reasons people come here are often similar—an admiration for the plateau, the "Roof of the World," and the "Pure Land on Earth," which is the ultimate dream destination for countless travelers. However, there are so many reasons why people haven’t been able to make the trip: fear of altitude sickness, family objections, having time but no money, having money but no time, not daring to travel alone, or planning with friends only to be stood up before departure, and so on. Once, a guest tearfully shared with us during a conversation that it had taken her 10 years to finally fulfill her dream of visiting Tibet. At that moment, everyone in the inn was deeply moved by her story. Only she truly knew how difficult it had been to get here.
We often play various roles in life, and sometimes we are not in control of our own paths. But I sincerely hope that one day, for whatever reason, you can set foot on this land that you’ve longed for and I’ve cherished. Instead of endlessly planning, just take the leap and go.
In the leisurely passage of time, may you have the chance to gaze upon the majestic Mount Everest, marvel at the azure waters of Namtso Lake, encounter the dreamy beauty of Yamdrok Lake, and feel the tranquility and awe at the foot of Mount Kailash. The plateau’s sunrises and sunsets, its starry skies and galaxies, are all waiting for you to arrive.
