📍 MacRitchie Reservoir Park There are multiple ways that you can get here because the park has different entrances and trials. It is also a really nice place to view the sunset. I actually brought my dogs out for a walk but usually I also go for a hike and you can proceed to walk along the boardwalk to catch better views! You get to see many different insects and animals along the way and monkeys too! There is also the MacRitchie treetop walk. Be amazed by the lush greenery 💚 I like that there are also benches along the boardwalk for you to sit and enjoy the view, or you can just sit on the boardwalk itself. #singapore

Recently, I have visited Macritchie Reservoir Park and it doesn't look like your usual Reservoir. It was beautiful, peaceful and away from all the noise and hustle and bustle of a stressful city life. The air was fresh there, and there's so much to see at this Reservoir Park. The weather may be warmer these days but surprisingly it was rather cool at Macritchie, with some breeze blowing over the water area. One can find lots of greenery and lots of nice trees. In the event of rain, there are sheltered area to cover yourself or to take a break and rest. Toilets are also nearby and there is even an exercise corner to do some light workout. This is a quieter part of Singapore and you dont get to see alot of people on a weekday morning. It is the prefect place if you like some quiet or alone time to just relax your mind. I love the blue skies, the tranquil waters, the trees swaying to the breeze and how quiet it was. It's time we take a pause from the city life and be one with nature at Macritchie Reservoir Park. #singapore

MacRitchie Reservoir is Singapore's oldest reservoir. The reservoir was completed in 1868 by impounding water from an earth embankment, and was then known as the impounding Reservoir or Thomson Reservoir. The reservoir well connected from all places within city, multiple walking trails with proper walking tracks, broadways, and some with stones and mud the natural way. If we cover the entire reservoir we end up walking 15-18 kilometers. There are multiple scenic places to capture.The Treetop bridge is where everyone walks first, though it’s not very high place, but, a must visit and check. Walking trails are good for health and refreshing too. The water colour in the reservoir has a clear turquoise green glow. It is stocked with fish and there’s a section designated for fishing.When weekends, we can see there are filled with various schools running their canoeing CCA activities. As for the residential monkey population, if you don’t bother them, they wouldn’t bother you, just be careful if you’re holding bags of food. Overall a wonderful experience. There is a beautiful scenic walk located right smack in the middle of Singapore called the macritchie reservoir. Macritchie Reservoir has been constantly upgrading and now its a beautiful place for a morning jog or a hike along the huge body of water. There are several hiking spots here it macritchie like the Prunus Trial, Lonnie Trial, the Petai Trial and many others, but what I strongly recommend is to walk via the Chemperai Trial. The Chemperai Trial takes you along the broadwalks right by the unblocked view of the reflected lake making this an ideal photoshot for many. The pioneers trapped and impounded water at the top of a hill with little to no technology and it shows! There is a carpark at the summit should you feel lazy and decide to drive up! Was a sunny afternoon and decided to move my lazy self to sweat it out and detox, so I decided to head to MacRitchie Reservoir alone! Haven’t been to here for the past 6 months, and the only thing that changed is… the TREETOP WALK IS FINALLY OPENED 😍😍😍 Started walking from the entrance of Macritchie Reservoir Park) near the Paddle Lodge (where people do dragon boat-ing) and through the forest trails. For a relatively fast walker, it will take around 1hr15mins (about 5km from the entrance) to reach the Treetop Trail! Did a video of the scenery and these pictures just does not do justice to the magnificent view from the suspension bridge. Do note that the Treetop Walk is closed on Mondays and entry will be denied after 4.45pm on days which it is open. After crossing the bridge, you’ll be going up a series of stairs and be brought back to the normal path where you’ll continue your hike and reach the Jelutong Tower! Some simple water sports can also be done on the reservoir. 🚣‍♀️There are some hiking routes to the east and west of the reservoir, and the main starting points are concentrated on the east side of the reservoir. There are several hiking routes, the longest is 11km, and there are several shorter routes that are only 2-4km. 🚶‍♀️The Blue Line passes MacRitchie's characteristic Treetop, a high-altitude unsupported suspension bridge.🌲 The hiking route is mainly in the woods, and it is relatively cool because there is no sun most of the time. #moreinsg Macritchie reservoir is one of the more well known places to bask in nature; and there are many activities of varying intensities for all ages, be it a calorie burning trail run, or a relaxing walk by the waters. Weather permitting, every corner are photogenic, be it the trail tracks or boardwalks surrounded by greenery that give off mysterious vibes when there are no crowds, or sunsets that provide an extra wow factor to photos. A small shed offers kayaking sessions. If you are into water activities, this is something you can consider. No certification is required but you can only take the open decked one, and you can only kayak in a stipulated area which is more shallow due to safety reasons. Do reserve a slot in advance to avoid disappointment, and bring a change of clothes as water may enter the kayak. Despite the clear directional signs, be warned to plan more time if you are venturing into the deeper ends of the forested areas, to provide some buffer for detours as there may be maintenance works on certain routes on various days.

The two-level parking garage has 300 spaces and rarely fills up. The nearest MRT to MacRitchie Reservoir is Marymount MRT, which is about 20 minutes away on foot. However, many bus lines stop right outside the park’s entrance. Note that the Venus Drive carpark closer by to the TreeTop Walk is located off Upper Thomson Road. Now you know where to park depending on which hiking trail you want to explore first!

This is the beauty of SG how they have preserved a lot of green amidst urban skyscrapers. If suddenly you feel like a short hike or want to breathe more oxygen or simply get out of the urban setting, just visit Mac Ritchie Reservoir and keep walking till you get lost inside. There were a few joggers but it was very peaceful and at times it was just me (and the monkeys!). The track was well made - there was some surface water from the previous day’s rain so probably best to wear closed shoes. There is a cafe at the centre with toilets (and even lockers for those wanting to jog). Afterwards I took the 166 bus back into town. You will get close to tthe nature as well as seeing the wild animals here .From the roosters to the monkey climbing around the trees. There is also a fitness corner next to the reservoir where you can train your physical level. It is definitely a great place to exercise around there.

#cherryblossom25 I still remember a long time ago when I came here. The only thing that catches my mind is this boardwalk which is still there for decades. This is the iconic boardwalk that you would have to take to go to the other side of the macRitchie reservoir. It is definitely very fun for children to embark on this trail. You can go to the lornie trail moving forward from the boardwalk .

#cherryblossom25 At the macrRitchie submerged boardwalk, you will be able to try out their submerged boardwalk. Be sure to wear waterproof shoes and try to wear shorts instead of long pants . Usually after the heavy rain, the water would be at a higher level. When you are walking on the submerged walkway, water might enter into your shoes. Children will definitely enjoy this submerged walkway.

You can find the petunia, morning glory, jasmine flowers, and even the frangipani here . They are all sun loving flower plants that grow well under the strong sunlight. I took their complimentary shuttle bus from Bishan MRT station and arrived at Mount Alvernia located at 820 Thomson Rd, Singapore 574623. It is a nice environment here and there are many art pieces and sculptures to explore. The new building has open and you can also hike to the nearby MacRitchie Reservoir Park. There are many buses coming to Mount Alvernia too and it is a non-profit private hospital with many services available.
