I went to Megalo Meteoron Monastery, the most famous of the monasteries in Meteora. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk from the center of Kalambaka town. You enter the monastery by climbing the steep slope of the monastery cliff. Compared to other monasteries, the condition of the paintings inside and the building are beautiful and large. There is also a viewpoint inside the monastery, and the view from there is beautiful. If you have to go to just one monastery in Meteora, this is the one to go to. The entrance fee is 3 euros. We went trekking to Meteora from the town of Kalambaka. There are seven monasteries in Meteora, and the trekking through them takes about 6 to 8 hours. Each monastery has different days of the week for the old building, so be sure to check the opening dates in advance. You can rent an electric bike for 20 euros a day. There are bus tours starting from about 5,000 yen, but I would definitely recommend walking.
