Located about 90km from Hanoi, Ninh Bihn region is definitely must see place when visiting Vietnam. Beside Halong Bay this is the biggest tourist attraction. One of the places I really enjoyed is boat cruise on Ngo Dong river, where boats are driven by feet, which makes it super interesting cruise among beautiful scenery of limestone mountains and three stalactite caves. There will be a close look on Mua Cave from different point of view. At the turning point there will be small floating market where you can buy food, fruit, snacks, and drinks for yourself and also your boat driver as a gesture of appreciation. Water Temple at Trang An in Ninh Binh; This is definitely one of my top must visit sites for anyone who is looking for serenity on their path to enlightenment. The energy here reminds me of the vortex in Sedona. You leave here feeling full and rejuvenated. We took a tour from Hanoi for $33/each. The tour started at 830am and lasted until 8pm. It included a buffet meal, pickup and dropoff from hotel within Old town, a few water bottles, all entrance fees and a local guide. Bring some extra tips for the guides. It was pouring when we went on the tour and the boat captain pushed all 4 of us along the river without an umbrella. There is a quiet city about two hours from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Its name is Ning Ping, where you can not only see the old buildings of the past, but also the landscapes like a fairyland. After riding the boat, you can see the Bidong Temple in about ten minutes by bicycle. After the rain, the whole temple is on the water and it is very Zen. Built in the 10th century and the Li Dynasty, Bidong and the temples on the mountain were built along the caves. They are divided into upper, middle and lower floors. The whole temple is made of wood piles, antique, very special and elegant. The temple overlooks the fields and the mountains. Bich Dong Pagoda is located on the outskirts of Ninh Binh, about 11 km from the city.

Where to stay: It is better to stay around Tam Coc region, not city center. All the touristic activity is in Tam Coc. It is easy to go around. Enjoy the calm environment. From the city center, you will only need to visit Ancient city. Attractions and experiences: I bought 350VND combo ticket of boat and bus at the boat ticket counter. Boat does return trip, it pass through 3 caves. On the way back, i dropped off at the Thanh station from the boat and started exploring the temples with bus. They are just okay. The last one is better for me. On the boat boatman offer you some souvenirs. I bought embroidered souvenirs with 200VND, but when i get off the boat the exact same one is being sold at 100VND by an old man under a tree. Boatman asks a tip. Lot of people hire motorcycle for about 150VND and explore the region by themselves, but i think boat was worth it. DAY 8: I originally planned to rent a motorcycle for a day trip to Ninh Binh, but after experiencing the traffic in Hanoi city, I was glad that I chose to join the local tour's luxury bus day tour. Lu Long Bay in Ninh Binh Province is famous for its spectacular limestone peaks, caves and rice fields. Hoa Lu was the capital of Vietnam in the 10th century. Although the old city no longer exists, there are still some ruins and temples that bear witness to this period of history. Tam coc in Lulong Bay Scenic Area means "three caves", namely Hang Ca, Hang Hai and Hang Ba, all located on the Ngo Dong River and now listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The two of us sat in a small boat, one in front and one behind, with the boatman rowing with his feet, starting from Van Lam Pier, enjoying the unique karst topography and beautiful rice field landscape along the way. The limestone caves we entered were lower than one another, and the caves were dark and rugged, but the boatman could accurately control the direction of travel. Passengers should also pay attention to the rocks above their heads and lie down to avoid them. After exiting the cave, it felt like arriving in a paradise, with a feeling of "walking through stone caves with green peaks, suddenly seeing flowers and willows welcoming you". The scenery on both sides changed from endless to surrounded by mountains, as if being in the artistic conception of an ancient poem "the mountains are continuous and the sound is endless, the light boat has passed the green peaks". We set out from Hanoi early in the morning and after a two-hour drive, we finally arrived at the movie set of King Kong, Lu Long Bay, which I had been looking forward to visiting! The scenery I saw at first sight was indeed eye-catching, touching and shocking! What a wonderful natural sight! I couldn't help but admire the professionalism of the film directors. I took a boat operated by a Vietnamese aunt and admired the natural beauty of Lu Long Bay and the stalactites created by nature. Although the tour took more than an hour, it left me wanting more.
