Japan Travel | Those about time and life: Teshima
#Itinerary SharingToshima was an unexpected surprise on this trip.
From Takamatsu to Toshima, there is only a high-speed ship, which is very small, even smaller than the high-speed ship from Takamatsu to Naoshima. If you are seasick, you will definitely vomit/::T
Toshima has two main ports: Ieura Port and Karako Port.
From Takamatsu, you arrive at Karako Port. There are buses after getting off the ship, and you can also rent bicycles, but the number is very small.
We didn't rent a car, so we took the bus🚌.
If you take a ferry from Tonosho Port in Shodoshima, it only takes 30 minutes to reach Ieura Port in Toshima. After arriving at the port, you can also rent an electric bicycle and start a trip around the island. That is to say, if you don't rent a car at Karako Port, you can take a bus to Ieura Port to rent a car. There are very few people coming from Shodoshima.
On our return trip, we took a ferry from Ieura Port to Shodoshima first, and then returned to Takamatsu, so there was no backtracking.
The Teshima Art Museum is the highlight of this trip. This building, designed by Rei Naito and architect Ryue Nishizawa, looks like a teardrop falling from the sky from a distance, embedded in the green terraces.
Entering the museum, the first thing that comes into view is a huge, white single space. Tiny water drops occasionally emerge from the cracks in the concrete floor. These water drops are the work "Matrix" by artist Rei Naito.
In this space, time seems to slow down. We sit on the concrete floor, staring at these water drops, feeling the smallness and eternity they bring.
The huge building, the ribbons fluttering in the wind, the contrast between the great heaviness and the extreme lightness really reminds people of Villeneuve's movies.
Heart Sound Archive. This is an art installation designed by French artist Christian Boltanski, which houses the heartbeats of 130,000 people from all over the world.
Visiting the room, the heartbeats are played randomly, which makes people breathe lightly and feel the magical power given by life. I didn't record my heartbeat because no one would come to listen to it.
Toshima Yokoo Museum is an art museum designed and built by architect Yuko Nagayama for artist Tadanori Yokoo. This art museum was renovated from an abandoned old house and is divided into three parts: "Main House", "Warehouse" and "Storage". Eleven works of Tadanori Yokoo are displayed in the museum, each with his strong personal characteristics. The red and black walls are matched with red transparent glass, giving people a strong sense of visual impact. Here, I seem to have entered Tadanori Yokoo's unrestrained brain and felt his philosophical thinking about "life and death".
The coastal highway of Toshima is one of the most unforgettable parts of my trip. On the left are lush mountains, and on the right are blue sky, white clouds and the sea. The sea breeze whistles past, and the corners of the clothes are blown up. The sense of freedom is unforgettable.
At a corner of the road, the endless sea suddenly appeared in front of me. The shock and beauty of that moment made me unforgettable for a long time.
In addition to the above-mentioned major attractions, there are many places worth visiting in Toshima. For example, art installations renovated from old houses, Yantian Qianchun Tunnel, etc. Although these attractions are small in scale, each one is full of artistic atmosphere and unique charm.
