Vilnius, Lithuania's capital, is a city that effortlessly blends history, art, and a bit of mystery. When I arrived, I was instantly charmed by its combination of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture that surrounds every cobbled street. Vilnius feels like an undiscovered treasure—it's full of stunning sights but hasn’t been overrun by mass tourism.
A stroll through the Old Town—a UNESCO World Heritage site—is a must. From the towering Vilnius Cathedral to the serene Bernardine Gardens, the city exudes a quiet grandeur. I loved walking through the narrow streets, discovering hidden courtyards, and stumbling upon charming cafes serving Lithuanian pastries.
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Užupis, a quirky, artistic neighborhood that declared itself an independent republic. The walls here are painted with strange and wonderful art, and the atmosphere is bohemian—full of free spirits, street performers, and local artists. I couldn’t resist spending a few hours soaking in the creativity and unique vibe.
Gediminas' Tower offers panoramic views of the city and the surrounding lush greenery—perfect for an afternoon hike. As I sat on the hilltop, I realized just how connected Vilnius is to nature, which is rare in many capital cities.
