Wat Kaew Prasert or Kuan Im Temple is built on a hill by the sea. It offers a beautiful view of Ao Pathiu. Inside the temple, there is a 9-headed Naga Buddha statue, 9.99 meters high, and a 9.99-meter-high Guan Im Bodhisattva of the South Sea. The highlight of the temple is the white Big Buddha. There are various postures of Thao Wessuwan for each day of birth. This is a beautiful check-in point. There are many Thai and Chinese buildings to see and worship. There is a coffee shop, Luang Ta Pha Plearn, which has a coffee shop atmosphere. It is a building imitating a large tree, 4 floors high. The upper floor offers a view of the sea. If anyone passes by this area, I recommend stopping by to pay homage at least once. The abbot, Luang Ta Chong, is very kind and has sacred words. 🙏🏻

Wat Kaeo Prasert was a fascinating surprise—it’s not just one temple, but a whole complex with shrines dedicated to different deities. The place is huge, and you’ll need at least an hour to explore everything properly. From golden Buddha statues to colorful Chinese-style shrines, there’s so much to take in. The atmosphere is lively yet peaceful, with the sound of bells and incense filling the air.
What I loved most was the variety—each section had its own unique vibe, and it felt like wandering through a spiritual village rather than a single temple. The grounds are well-maintained, with lush trees and little spots to pause and reflect. And the best part? No entrance fee, so you can take your time without feeling rushed.
If you’re in the area, don’t miss this place. It’s not as famous as some of the bigger temples, but that just makes it more special. Just wear comfortable shoes—you’ll be doing a lot of walking! A truly rewarding stop for anyone who loves exploring hidden gems.

Wat Kaew Prasit (Wat Tha At)
Wat Kaew Prasert is a temple that the locals also call Wat Chao Mae Kuan Im. This temple was built on a hill by the sea, overlooking the beautiful scenery of the indented land that juts into the sea like a painting. The temple has been continuously developed. Luang Pho Chong, the abbot of the temple, has built many Thai and Chinese-style buildings for people to worship. In particular, the 9.99-meter-high nine-headed Naga Buddha and the 9.99-meter-high Guan Yin Bodhisattva of the Southern Sea are the highlights of this temple. You will also see the golden church, statues of Thai and Chinese arhats, a statue of Prince of Chumphon Khet Udomsak, as well as a museum of antiques and exquisite paintings. #Chumphon
