"Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. "Our family of four spent one night in Datong to break our week in Beijing, and this hotel was such a breath of fresh air from our more "utilitarian" hotel in the capital. We stayed in the Lushun room. It was modern, clean, airy, and had good room temperature control despite being the shoulder season. Highly recommended if staying there with kids, as they can have their own separate area and parents can truly relax. We didn't try breakfast, though, as it's a 10-minute walk away, and we just wanted to rest in the morning. We just ordered food in."

"Staying at Ji Xia Shan for four days and three nights in Datong was an absolute delight, a truly pleasant surprise! It was my first experience with the Ji Xia Shan brand, and I'm already looking forward to visiting Meili! We stayed in the Dieyin Courtyard room, which had a small private courtyard. Each tree in the room and throughout the hotel had a tag identifying its species – such a cute little detail. The room's snacks and fruits were refreshed daily, and the nightly sweet soups were never repeated. The first night was bird's nest soup, the second was corn soup, and the third was brown sugar peach gum. Breakfast was a semi-buffet, with small portions allowing us to sample many dishes, which was great for avoiding waste. For our anniversary, the hotel specially decorated our room and even gifted us a delicious, freshly made cake. We felt a bit bad that we couldn't finish it all and caused some waste. The hotel's overall design creates a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, bringing a sense of peace and tranquility. It feels full of positive energy, with its water features and swaying tree shadows exuding vitality and spirit. The staff are all young, well-groomed, and professional ladies and gentlemen. They are warm, generous, and their service is natural and friendly, which was very endearing. Stepping out of the hotel, the view is expansive, directly facing the eastern city wall. Downstairs are Dongnanyi and the hotel's own Yungang Art Museum. During our trip, we caught the 'Pine Under the Mountain' exhibition and learned that the brand's founder is actually from Shanxi. Datong itself is a fantastic city. Besides its numerous ancient buildings that are a feast for the eyes, it has a rich, comfortable, and natural local atmosphere. 😌"

"The bedroom with loft bed with slide fit our families well with my two kids in the loft bed. Reception and staff was very helpful and breakfast was great. Breakfast is about 5 minutex walk away which was ok for us. The room was tastefully designed and we love our stay, They uses disposable towel there which is not so environmentally friendly. A minor issue if you like fluffy towels or if sustainability a big consideration in your hotel selection. Regardless, it was a great stay for us. Location was also very convenient."

"The location of the hotel is good, easy access from main road to get big bags to it and also to go around the ancient city both during day and night time to enjoy all the landmarks. Missing signages make it a bit difficult to find the hotel at first. Also, while we had paid for a bigger rooms the room barely had walking space. It had no luggage storage space or cabinet. The washroom and room floor was not cleaned. Staff on the other hand are very friendly and willing to help with all the questions - on local travel, places to see, vegetarian food, etc. They find a way to help to the best. All in all was a good experience and would have been better with some adjustments."
