Taiwan's Jinguashi Miner Lunchbox and a Stroll Around the Gold Museum

Initially, I thought the taste might be mediocre since it's located in the heart of a tourist spot, but to my surprise, it was quite satisfying! Why is the miner lunchbox so famous? Jinguashi used to be a gold mining village. The lunchbox is inspired by the meals miners used to eat back in the day and is now sold as a popular tourist item. The food is neatly packed, making it a memorable part of your trip. Here’s what my lunchbox included: - Soy-braised pork - Kimchi-style side dishes - Clear soup The flavors were mild and not overly stimulating, making it suitable for Korean palates. While the portion might be a bit small, the packaging is clean and convenient, perfect for a quick meal before boarding a train or bus. The price was around NT$200. 🏛 Skipping the Gold Museum, Opting for Scenic Walks Instead Right near the miner lunchbox shop is the Jinguashi Gold Museum. While museum enthusiasts might enjoy a visit, we decided to skip it and focus on a stroll around the area instead. This turned out to be a fantastic choice. Behind and around the museum, there are trails along the mountain ridges and traditional buildings that offer stunning views. You don’t need to walk far to enjoy the scenery, making it a perfect activity to digest your meal. If you’re visiting Jinguashi, whether or not you plan to visit the Gold Museum, I highly recommend trying the miner lunchbox. It’s a meal that satisfies your eyes, taste buds, and heart.
