Petrovaradin Fortress, an impregnable military fortress with beautiful scenery!

🔆 When the sun sets, head to Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia, and you'll see the Danube River covered in a layer of gorgeous sunset glow. The city's buildings, bridges, and roads are reflected in the Danube River, creating a beautiful picture. ⛳ Petrovaradin Fortress is the largest of the more than 30 large ancient fortresses in Europe. It was built in 1692 to resist the invasion of the Turks and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The construction continued through the change of dynasties and was completed in 1786 after 94 years, making it the most solid military fortress in the world at that time. ⛩️ As time goes by, Petrovaradin Fortress gradually lost its military significance and has now become a tourist attraction and cultural center in Novi Sad, but we can still feel the weight of history and the sediment of time. ✨ Features and highlights: 1⃣️ Unique geographical location: The fortress is built on a huge rock more than 40 meters high on the banks of the Danube River, overlooking the Danube River, and is known as the "Gibraltar on the Danube River." 2️⃣ Military legend of the Danube River: It has repelled many invaders, such as the Battle of Petrovaradin in 1716, when the Habsburg army led by Prince Eugene defeated the Ottoman Empire, making Petrovaradin Fortress famous. 3⃣️ Witness to historical changes: From ancient times to the present, wars, dynastic changes, and the disintegration of Yugoslavia and the outbreak of the Bosnian War in the late 20th century, it has witnessed the changes in the Balkans. 4⃣️ Underground tunnels of the fortress: With a total length of 16 km, a width of more than 1 meter, and 3 floors, each 2 meters high, the tunnels are crisscrossed and winding, with complete facilities inside, providing reconnaissance, attack, concealment, garrison, escape, and other functions necessary for war. 5⃣️ City Museum: Located inside the fortress, the exhibits are both Western and Eastern, and the Cultural History Hall displays the city's changes from the first half of the 18th century to the mid-20th century. 6⃣️ Clock tower of the fortress: Built in the 18th century, it is one of the landmarks of Novi Sad. When we visited, the clock tower was surrounded by repairs.
