The early Donghe Temple was called the Caodongzong Dabenshan Bieyuan. It was built by a high-ranking monk from Japan in 1908. The designer was Ijiang Zentaro. In 1916, it was for the children of monks and Zhaiyou, with a Buddhist school attached, 1916 AD In 1930, it was renamed Private Taipei Middle School, and then renamed Taibei Middle School. The towering clock tower built before the main hall in 1930 is still preserved.
