Exploring History and Coastline: Godley Head Park Adventure⛰️

During my visit to Christchurch, my Thai friend who lives there took me on a day trip to Godley Head Park, and it turned out to be one of the most scenic coastal walks I've ever done. We drove about 45 minutes from the city, passing through the charming seaside suburb of Sumner, then up Evans Pass Road to the car park at the top. From there, we hiked the Godley Head Loop Track, an easy-to-moderate 9 km walk with incredible ocean views, cliffs, and peaceful nature all around. Along the trail, we explored old WWII bunkers and military sites, which added a unique historical twist. We even spotted a few seabirds soaring above the cliffs! The weather was sunny but windy, so definitely bring a jacket.🙆♀️ The track was well maintained, and we had plenty of photo stops with views of Lyttelton Harbour and the Kaikōura Ranges in the distance.
