Shenyang: Benefiting the Public, Shenyang South Pagoda.

One of the four famous pagodas and four temples in Shenyang, a cultural landmark building in Shenyang, and now a provincial cultural protection unit. In the eighth year of Chongde in the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Tai Zong Huang Taiji of the Qing Dynasty ordered the construction of four pagodas and four temples in Shenyang. The South Pagoda was completed in the second year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (Guangci Temple). It was damaged during the Russo-Japanese War (renovated during the Republic of China), destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, and renovated by the government in 1985. The South Pagoda is a Tibetan Lama Pagoda with a square waist-restricting Sumeru base, with brick-carved male lions and flame treasure basins embedded inside. The main body of the pagoda is in the shape of a treasure bottle, with a divine tablet enshrined on the south side and cloud bead patterns inlaid around it. The steeple is composed of a copper-cast umbrella, sun and moon, and a treasure bead. The wind blows and the bells ring softly. The South Pagoda is open for free and is not large in scale. There is a South Pagoda Park around it. You need to enter from the west gate. Note that it is closed at 2pm.
